Principle 1: Good Timing Makes Good Capoeira
As promised, here's the first principle of a good capoeira game: Timing. This actually comes from Mestre Fran who used to emphasize it during class. Pay attention to the timing of some players the next time you're at roda or watching something on YouTube.

Quite a Good Article: "Capoeira: Dance, bout or a fluid mix of both"
I read an article, "Capoeira: Dance, bout or a fluid mix of both" this morning from The Sacramento Bee about capoeira. The article is probably one of the best general articles about capoeira I've seen. I had to add this post to so many categories because this article touches on a lot of capoeira's aspects. I'm quite impressed by the author. If you're at all interested in capoeira, you should check it out.
I'll quote some of my favorite bits below.

Principles of Good Capoeira Games
It's been a while since I've posted anything to the blog, but that doesn't mean I haven't been thinking about it. I decided about a week ago to start a series of blog posts about playing capoeira. My goal is to attempt to come up with a coherent (and manageable) set of principles that we can focus on as we try to develop our own capoeira games.
