Troca de Corda

A ceremony in which a capoeirista is awarded a higher ranking corda. Troca de cordas almost always happen in conjunction with a batizado.

A capoeirista usually recieves a higher corda in the troca de corda in recognition of training hard, being deemed worthy by teachers as an acknowledgment of their efforts. Some capoeiristas can receive a corda in recognition of dedication to capoeira through means other than developing their jogo. This is usually due to service to philosophical ends of the group in accordance with a fundmento.
