Graduado Program

Become a Graduado!  Capoeira's equivalent to a black belt.

To become a graduado is a serious step and a great accomplishment in capoeira.  The average time it takes a student to reach this level and get their first title in capoeira is between 4 to 6 years of continuous, consistant training of at least 3 to 4 times per week.  At this point, the student can demonstrate a strong competency in all aspects of capoeira.  They have proven to be a solid member of their academy-always dependable, they can teach a great class, play all the instruments, lead songs, speak portuguese, and have traveled to Brazil.  This is also the point at which a student may start their own capoeira programs under the guidance of their teacher.  Additionally, graduados may be allowed to play in special "Teacher Rodas " at events.

This process doesn't happen overnight and you need to be prepared.  We recognize this and we are happy to be one of the few schools in the nation that offers a specific program to help you graduate.  We want everyone to graduate, that's the point of any school, but there is no pressure to join this program.  We hope everyone will, but it is only for those that are looking to take their capoeira to the next level.
